Our Team

Matthew McNeal, CFA

I am a proud native of the Wood River Valley in Idaho. After moving east and graduating with a degree in Economics from Bowdoin College in Maine, I quickly realized that my heart was in the mountain West and my wife and I have made this valley our home ever since. We have three children from pre-school through 2nd grade and a goofy golden retriever named Murphy. I spent my youth on ski hills and dusty trails, and it makes me unbelievably happy to teach my kids the joy of the outdoors in the same mountains that I grew up in. I love being outside on a bike, on skis, or on my own two feet and I serve as the board chair for the Wood River Trails Coalition, an organization that takes care of our extensive network of singletrack trails. I previously worked for two different investment firms, in a general contractor’s office and as an alpine ski coach for the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation. I am incredibly proud of the work we do at American Capital Advisory and grateful for the team and the clients that make it all possible.

Ian Jameson

After graduating from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in Economics it seemed like a good idea to put my degree to use at agriculturally focused hedge fund in the San Joaquin Valley of California. Within a year, I determined that pursuing my future wife to Idaho was a more important objective and switched career paths to work in outdoor education with troubled youth, construction and a climbing gym before returning to investment management. The timing of the return to the investing world was such that I was able to experience the Great Recession from preamble to postscript, and I’m quite grateful for the lessons that were learned and the bonds that were formed to create the foundation of the company today. Outside of the office, I serve as the Board Chair of the Flourish Foundation and enjoy rock climbing and fly fishing with my wife and two daughters.

Gib Davenport

Following my graduation from Washington & Lee in 1988, I spent the majority of my career working in institutional equity sales for several firms covering the largest money managers in the country. I started the Richmond, Virginia office of American Capital Advisory in 2014 to help individuals manage their equity portfolios in a cost efficient manner. ACA allows me the flexibility to manage individual stock portfolios for clients with complete transparency on why each position is owned. Outside of the office, I enjoy many outdoor activities but golf has always been my passion, despite the challenges the game presents. My wife, two children and I have focused our charitable efforts around our Church activities which have included working at festivals, coaching GOYA basketball and supporting Caritas.

Renee Faltings, CRPS

An Oregon native, I stepped into the financial services business in 1999, joining the Bend, Oregon office of Merrill Lynch. After 11 years I decided to leave the traditional corporate asset management structure and moved to a boutique, independent firm based in Ketchum. I joined American Capital Advisory in 2022, bringing to the table over 22 years of experience and a love for helping people develop a secure financial future.

While not in the office you will find me on a river rowing a drift boat with fly rod in hand and a dog (or 3) in tow. I’m a registered guide in Montana and Idaho and believe client meetings should take place while dry fly fishing. I’m a board member for the national Trout Unlimited Coldwater Conversation Fund.

Matthew Cullen, CFA

I am a native Richmonder, proud husband and father of two teenage daughters, and rabid Tar Heel fan, graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1995.  I am thrilled to be a recent addition to the American Capital Advisory team where our client focused approach to investment selection and portfolio management resonates with me personally.  Prior to joining ACA, I worked in equity research for over 20 years, both in Richmond and New York, across geographies and industries.  Finally, I have served as a Board Member of CFA Society Virginia since 2013, and recently completed my second term as President.  My other interests (besides investing and UNC basketball, of course) are reading and backgammon, which teaches many of the same lessons as investing!

Maunsel Hickey

I began my career in the Financial Services Industry in 2004. Prior to joining American Capital Advisory, I was a Wealth Advisor at ClearRock Capital, an independent advisory firm in Sun Valley, Idaho which was acquired by Mercer Advisors. Previously I worked in Institutional Equities as a Managing Director at Seaport Global Securities and as a Vice President at BB&T Capital Markets. When not in the office, I enjoy exploring the outdoors and spending time with my wife and two children. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
